Let there be no doubt – Coach Chad Short LOVES CUSHING KIDS.

Introduced by Lion of the Day, Vic Caudle, Coach Short presented his philosophical views on how he wants to influence young people and children for good – and he does it on a daily basis, one child at a time.  A professed Christian and former youth pastor, Coach Short told the Cushing Lions Club at their Tuesday noon meeting how he enjoys rearing his own children in this community and wants to live here the rest of his life.

Short is the Cushing Junior High Head Wrestling Coach and Assistant Coach to Cushing High School’s wrestling team.  The wrestling program has 38 young people in junior high and about 25 in senior high locally.  Aware that his sphere of influence on these students can be powerful, Short works with them to be better people, to strive for excellence, ‘to set the bar higher than they ever thought they could reach’.

In addition to his school duties, Short, along with a local friend, has started ‘Arise Student Ministries’ (ASM) which meets on Monday nights fropm 5-8 pm at Covenent Fellowship across Jones street from the high school campus.  “Eight local church congregations are represented each week,” says Short,  ASM provides a safe, morally strong environment, working toward two things.  Short says it best:  ‘We want our young people to strive to live a godly lifestyle and to help develop Christian unity in Cushing.’
