Cloris Lee Tatum passed away from this life on July 4th, 2014, loved and deeply cherished, surrounded by friends and family.

Memorial services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Oilton Oklahoma, services will be held on Monday July 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Assembly of God in Jennings Oklahoma.

Cloris Lee (Voris) Tatum was born to Garner and Cora (Robbins) Voris at home in Delaware, Oklahoma on April 20th, 1936. It was there in Delaware that Cloris, who preferred to go by the nickname of Corkey, spent most of her childhood, attending school there from Kindergarten to 12th grade at Delaware High School. Energetic and athletic, Corkey was an accomplish basketball player throughout her high school years, managing to letter in the sport all four years that she attended.

Corkey meet the love of her life, Orie Lee Tatum in 1951. The two were married on May 28th, 1955 and shared the next 59 years together until the time of her death. Corkey and Orie raised a family together, a son and two daughters, and while work often forced them to move about a lot, Corkey made sure to keep the family close and together.  Eventually, the Tatum clan settled in Pawnee County in 1972, and has remained there since.

Once their children were raised Orie and Corkey began a 30 year trucking trek across country as a team, though Corkey would be the only one to have ever seen all 50 states of our great nation. Corkey retained her CLD License until the age of 65, when she reluctantly retired from driving to manage their own trucking company while Orie continued on the road.

Not one to sit still for long Corkey enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She and Orie would often at times take off on trips to various places. Traveling by classic car, by motorcycle or by cruise ship the pair never took a moment for granted to live and enjoy life to the fullest. Music was another of Corkey’s passions. She loved to get together with family band, lovingly named Bits and Pieces, and collected a variety of guitars, all of which she played.

She is survived by her husband, Orie Tatum of Jennings, Oklahoma, one brother, Nolan Voris of Talala, Oklahoma, one daughter: Terry (Tatum) Mainus and her husband, Dean of Drumright, Oklahoma, one Son: Steven Tatum and his wife Trina of Jennings, Oklahoma. As well as six grandchildren and six great-grand children who loved and adored her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers: John Voris, Ted Voris, Jack Voris, Dennis Voris, Ed Voris, Warren Voris, Carl Voris and Mark Voris. Two sisters: Fern (Voris) Jacobs and Annalea (Voris) Prost, one daughter, Kathy (Tatum) Orcutt, and one Great-Granddaughter, Callie Mainus.
