The City of Cushing held it’s monthly meeting at the City Hall Monday evening opening with recognition to service of two city employees. Mark Chapman working with the Street Department and Tom Olmstead, working in the water plant, received pins and certificates for twenty five years of city employment and will be placed on the City Honor Roll of Service.

The city commissioners then read their first emailed question since the opening of communication lines to all citizens to mail, fax or email concerns within the community.

Other Items discussed:

Commissioners approved Resolution No. 01-2009, a resolution authorizing and directing the interim manager to issue a purchase order to Quality Ford in the sum of $14,500.00 for a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria for the Cushing Police Department.

Two new members were appointed to the Cushing Housing Authority on a three year term.

Resolution No. 02-2009 was approved to authorize the Chairman and Board of Commissioners to execute a professional services contract for architectural services.

Commissioners discussed the proposed Skate Park, citing the youth of the community are willing and ready to raise $9,000 through fund raisers to help aid the first phase of the Skate Park which will cost around $70,000 and in it’s second and final stage,the approximate cost would be $110,000 to complete the Skate Park project. The commissioners moved to approve the proposed skate park, proposed funding and to authorize staff to solicit bids for the project.
