JUNE 2009 NEWSLETTER
OFFICIAL CHS 1963 WEBSITE
Peggy Randall-Martin(CHS 1963)
I need the names of 1963 CHS-ers who attended the reunion this past weekend. Please, somebody?? Thanks.
The whirlwind All School Reunion Weekend has drawn to a close and it all went by too fast. To quote a dear friend and fellow alumni, Jim McCrackin, “If you want to speed up your life, take a vacation or attend a reunion and visit with old friends.” Not that we want life to pass us by like a NASCAR lap, but what he said caused me to wonder if there was a way to pick up the pace of hum drum days and ways to bring the glory of the past closer to the present. With that in mind, I created a new link: Cushing Entertainment. https://chsclassof1963.webs.com/cushingentertainment.htm
Now, if you need an excuse to go back home, drive familiar streets and visit favorite ‘haunts’, I hope this new page will be both the connection and incentive that you need. Check out this new page for more info on Cushing’s BBQ n’ Blues Festival (Saturday, June 06 2009, 11:00am – 5:00pm) and other upcoming local events.
Anyone who knows of an entertainment event in Cushing that should be included in the link, please let me know and provide as much information as possible. I will do my best to keep the link up to date.

In a few days I will be re-dressing our site for the month of June. You will be happy to know that the military pages for Dennis Mason, Coach O’Dell and Jim Pugh will keep their patriotic tone year ‘round. AND it is time again to feature a new Celebrity Guest Classmate, Arthur Bartow (CHS 1953). In doing so, you will be introduced to something we have not done before. Turn your sound on because you are in for a special treat! That’s all I am willing to divulge at this time, however, it’s exciting and a great privilege to unveil and ‘go live’ with Arthur’s feature story the first of June! Communicating about many topics with this accomplished and gracious man over the past few months is a blessing I probably would not have had the opportunity to experience if I were not counted among a special group of people known as “Dora’s Kids”. I look forward to seeing him next year, when we anticipate the Dora Hobbs Performing Arts Center dedication will take place.
If there is a classmate story featured previously that you particularly enjoyed, visit our Classmate Stories page and you will find it there to read again and/or share with others. The Classmate Story page lists the feature story schedule through the end of 2009!

If you have explored our website in about 30 minute’s or less, you have only scratched the surface. Visit the site often, try to view each page and sign our guestbook! If you have questions, suggestions or comments, please contact me: [email protected]. We also have a new website feature, you can now Google our website and the link to do so is on the home page. For example, if you want to find all of the pages that include Jim Pugh’s picture or story, etc., all you have to do is type pugh in the Google search link and click “Search This Site”; then links to each page with mention of him will be at your fingertips.
A trial page, Old School, has not drawn any attention that I’m aware of. If you’re interested in my exploring its possibilities, please let me know; otherwise, its development will be abandoned. https://chsclassof1963.webs.com/oldschool.htm
When viewing our website, remember to click on New Links. You may find links to pages that you didn’t know existed. https://chsclassof1963.webs.com/newlinks.htm
Once Jim Pugh tallies up Chaplain Newby’s expenses and the amount of the donations we received, I will give you an update. Thanks to those of you who donated and/or attended the service.
I am hoping that classmates with pictures from this year’s reunion will be e-mailing them to me soon for use on the website. There must be stories from the weekend that will need to be told, so jot them down and send them to me! Now, I leave you with my thought for the day: The only thing more precious than a memorable experience first hand, is to view the event through the eyes and emotions of a friend.
I hope you had a safe and enjoyable Memorial weekend. If you have not already, please remember to pay homage in your own way to ALL of our military men and women.
Our website is set to renew in August of this year and the cost for next year has been received anonymously. Remember this is OUR website – I need your input! Thank you for your support.
