Charles Robert Retherford, a Cushing resident, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 in his home at the age of 44 years.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing, OK with Brother Brien Gladden officiating. Burial will follow in the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, OK.
The son of Sam M. Retherford and Kathy Tomey, Charles was born on August 17, 1969 in Cushing, OK. He was reared and educated in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School with the Class of 1988. Charles married Jana August 1st 1988 and made their home in Cushing before moving to Shawnee in 2005, Charles returned to Cushing in 2010. He had worked as an animal control officer in Shawnee and Cushing.
On April 23, 2013 Charles was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Cushing by Brien Gladden. Charles loved spending time with his family and his children. In his spare time he loved to fish, work on cars, fixing up his house but drawing was his passion.
Survivors include his children Camran Retherford and his wife Ashley of Cushing, Miranda Magnus and her husband Cody of Kansas and their beloved mother and lifelong friend Jana Cain of Cushing, and son Gavin Retherford of Cushing; one brother, Robert Retherford and his wife Nicki of Cushing; two sisters, Cindy DeShazer and her husband Russell of Drumright and Anita Jennings of Cushing; mother, Kathy DeShazer of Cushing; three grandchildren, Madison and Brooklee Magnus, Hunter Berry and other relatives and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Sam Retherford and his grandpa Nathan Retherford.
