Week 16: Charles Murrow with Murrow Real Estate & Auction LLC.
All the way from what he calls the, “flatlands”, Mr Charles Murrow and his team came to Cushing, from Alva, to auction off 52 + residential building lots at the Country Club Vista Estates.
Recently, on Saturday, at 10am, about 15 prospective buyers gathered at the Cushing Country Club to put in their bids. Armed with donuts and hot coffee, Mr Murrow began the day’s bidding on what I consider some of the most desirable land in all of Oklahoma.
Prior to the auction, Murrow came to Cushing to look over the land and to KUSH to record his commercial. It was quite evident that he is no stranger to the mike. The live interview he gave KUSH Business Spotlight the day before the auction gave us a little taste of his expertise as an auctioneer. He was a great guest, telling us how they hold their auctions indoors at the fairgrounds in Alva. He described the comfortable seating and made not that the items for auction are cleaned and carefully displayed – often bringing a premium price.
Always the cheerleader – I told him that while he was in town to be sure and go see our train depot, golf course, dinner theater and Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the area. I also urged Mr. Murrow, when he asked about lodging, to check out the Tatanka Ranch. I reminded him of the vineyards close by that are INTERNATIONAL gold medal winners as well as some of the best vineyards the state has to offer. I also encouraged him to come back for the live performance of “Marriage is Murder” at our downtown dinner theatre. I tried to entice him by telling him the catering is done by the famous Joseph’s Steak House. Unfortunately, he said a previous engagement would not allow his return that quickly – so I let him off the hook!
Murrow did a great job with the auction and I’m happy to report several folks I know came away with some gorgeous property because of it.
