(Cushing, Okla) Jim Pickard, President of the local Lions Club International, called the meeting to order today at 12:17 p.m. The agenda started with song and pledge by Lion Jerry Snyder. This was followed by prayer requests for local families and prayer by Rev. Kathleen Leithner.
Tom Cumming, a delegate from the Cushing Lions Club that attended the Lions convention in Tulsa, Oklahoma last week on April 25th and April 26th (2015) reported to the club that there was a good turnout. The Detrich’s were honored at the convention for the annual Thanksgiving Dinner that put on each year here in Cushing. Redistricting to three districts is going to be getting underway for Lions “Clubs” in Oklahoma.
Lion of the Day, Lou Griffin, introduced today’s speaker and guest, the CEO of Hillcrest Hospital Cushing, Kevin Hawk. Hawk, who is originally from Ohio, a Buckeye fan, and a golf lover, is also a man with a vision for health care in Cushing. Hawk spoke to the club about that vision, including ways to make patients’ experiences as positive as possible at Hillcrest Hospital Cushing. He explained the importance of trying to better meet the needs of the public and in return, he hopes Cushing will make the choice of choosing local health care.
Hillcrest Hospital Cushing is currently a 3 star hospital with vision of becoming a 5 star hospital.
The annual Junior Olympics, sponsored by Cushing Lions, will be held next Tuesday, May 5th at O’Dell Field. Lions Club members helping with the event should meet there following lunch.
The lucky winner of the 50/50 drawing won $9.00.
