The Cat in the Hat visited Harrison School to kick off Read Across America Week.

Harrison principal Martha Cackler gave bits of Seuss trivia in a presentation prior to the arrival of The Cat in the Hat.

Trivia included:

Theodor Geisel came up with his pen name – Dr. Seuss – buy using his mother’s maiden name and adding a title of prestige.

Mondya, March 2, marked what would have been Seuss’s 105th birthday.

Seuss was born in Massacushetts and while he wrote numerous children books, he never had any children of his own.

After the Cat in the Hat (played splendidly by Angela Britton, KUSH) danced about the room greeting children, KUSH Girls Molly Payne and Donna Judd read The Cat in The Hat Comes Back.

Each year, local schools are served a delicious breakfast of green eggs and ham in honor of Seuss’s birthday.

Read Across America Week begins today, March 2nd and will continue through March 6th.
