(Cushing, Okla.) The following information is a preliminary collision report furnished by the Department of Public Safety.
A collision occurred on May 1st (2015) at approximately 4:49 (p.m.) on US-177 near EW 800 Road in Lincoln County.
Jared Northrup (30) of Carney was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson that was going southbound on US-177, while Malisha Collins (42) of Carney was also headed southbound driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado on US-177. Collins’ Silverado had stopped to make a left turn into a private drive when Northrup’s Harley tried to pass the Silverado by moving to the left. The Silverado then made a left turn, and was struck by the Harley. Northrup was thrown from the motorcycle, and the motorcycle flipped coming to rest in the grass off of the roadway.
Northrup was transported by Flight for Life to OU Medical Center where he was admitted with injuries to the head, and right arm. Collins was not injured.
The DPS report shows the accident was caused due to a driver going left of center in a marked zone.
