Carlene, the daughter of the late Carl and Goldie (Kelly) Patterson, was born October 19, 1938, in Cushing, Oklahoma.  She was raised in the Hillside Community and graduated from the Cushing High School Class of 1956.

Carlene was married to Jim “Bear” Frisbie on September 28, 1957 in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Carlene began her work with the youth of Cushing in the mid 1960’s with Kelly Burden at the Cushing Youth and Community Center, when it was located in the former Lincoln School West of Cushing. In 1969 Bear became part of that team.  The three of them used their talent, their friendship and their love for their community to build the basis of one of the best youth programs in the State of Oklahoma.

Bear and Carlene was a force of hard work and determination.  Their passion was contagious.  The Frisbie’s were instrumental in the drive to have the new facility on South Little Street constructed.  During that time, the community came together and with the help of board members and civic leaders a new State of the Art building was opened on April 20, 1984.  Still to this day, the individuals that were part of that team share a bond.

Always known for her spunk and her constructive attitude (that was intended to promote development), she preferred to “remain in the background.”  Carlene Frisbie was a willing volunteer when needed and her main concerns were always related to the youth of Cushing.

Carlene is survived by her daughter, Holly Tichenor and her husband Joe of Cushing; one son Jay Frisbie of Cushing; one brother Kenny Patterson and wife Jimalea of Guthrie; grandchildren       Cass Ring and husband Hunter; Trisha Frisbie, Tiffany Frisbie and Jayla Frisbie; great grandson Hagan “Bear” Ring; sister-in- law Serita Cooper and husband James.  Also, surviving is Johnny O’Rourke and wife Imogene, Delores Allen and husband Bill and Earnestine Hodo, and Virginia Green whom was a huge part of her everyday life. Carlene was blessed with a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Frisbie Scholarship Fund.  Memorials can be sent to 2013 East Main in care of Sheree’ Fielding.

Condolences and an online guestbook are available at www.PalmerMarlerFH.com.
