Once again the Cushing Community PRCA Rodeo, July 10th & 11th, will feature the Canadian Valley Rangerettes.  And once again the equestrian team will be returning as champions.  In June of 2008, they were recognized as the first drill team in the USEDC history to win back to back national drill team championships.  Not only did they win back to back championships, the Canadian Valley Rangerettes took home the first ever SportsQuest Cup Award for their outstanding performance at the USEDC Ride of Champions competition.

The Canadian Valley Rangerettes have been in existence for over 40 years and is the longest running equestrian drill team in the state of Oklahoma.  Their professionalism and enthusiasm along with their impressive skills are just a few of the reasons this group of ladies get invited back to events such as the Cushing Community PRCA Rodeo, year after year.

Geared to accommodate lady riders of all ages and walk of life, the Canadian Valley Rangerettes are a family oriented group.  It might surprise folks to know that its membership consists of nearly 30 ladies ranging in age from 4 years old and up!  Only riders 16 and up are eligible to ride in drill performances – the younger ones ride with their family members in parades.

Drill Master and founding member Nila Birchett reminds her fellow Rangerettes, “You don’t become a great cowgirl by yourself.  We’re a team set in motion to achieve a common goal.”
Working as a team is critical to this group of ladies.  Drill Master and founding member, Nila Birchett reminds her fellow Rangerettes, “You don’t become a great cowgirl by yourself.  We’re a team set in motion to achieve a common goal.”

Last year, Cushing rodeo goers were deprived of their second night performance due to the tremendous downpour Saturday night.  Let’s all keep our fingers cross that this year the weather cooperates.

Tickets to this year’s rodeo are on sale now for just $10 in advance!  They can be purchased at either Bank of Cushing location or from any Rodeo Queen or Princess contestant.
