(Cushing, Okla.) The City of Cushing held a retirement party today (March 25, 2015) for Calvin Wright, city employee for almost 43 years. Steve Spears, Cushing’s City Manager was on hand to greet and wish Wright well in his retirement. Spears said that Wright had been his right hand man for the past 30 years.

Wright began his career with the City of Cushing as a police officer where he worked his way up from patrolman to Chief of Police before retiring nearly 21 years ago after 22 years of service in that position. He then went onto to work in the City of Cushing’s Water Department where he was head of that department. His career with the Water Department began just a few days shy of 21 years ago. Wright also helped with Engineering at the City of Cushing.

Approximately 70 to 80 city employees, Wright’s family members, and well wishers were on hand to greet and congratulate Wright on his retirement.

Wright said that plans for the future include – a little fishing, some home maintenance, and possibly some hobbies of some type, plus some part-time work at where else?  The City of Cushing!
