(Cushing, Okla.) The following information is a preliminary collision report furnished by the Department of Public Safety.

A fatality collision occurred at 6:30 (pm) on Friday, July 10th (2015) on US75 at Preston in Okmulgee County.

Leon Pinson (74) of Bristow was driving a 2005 Lincoln Town car when he attempted to make a left turn, failing to yield from a stop sign, pulling into the path of Shannon Simpson (42) of Okmulgee. Simpson was driving a 1991 GMC pickup which struck Pinsons Lincoln in the driver’s side door.

The driver of the Lincoln and his passenger Ada Pinson (68) of Bristow were both pinned for about 30 minutes prior to being extricated by Okmulgee Fire using the Jaws of Life.

Leon Pinson was pronounced dead at the scene and his passenger Ada Pinson was transported to St John Hospital (Tulsa) by Life Flight where she was pronounced dead a short time after arrival. Simpson was treated and released from Okmulgee Hospital.

According to DPS reports seatbelts were not in use by everyone in the vehicles involved in the accident.
