Bonnie Eleanor Fielding, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on August 10, 2008 at her home in Cushing, Oklahoma.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Cushing, OK with Dr. Larry Haney officiating. Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park. Bonnie will be available for viewing at her home on Tuesday, August 12 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with her family there to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. She will also be available for viewing at Palmer Marler Funeral Home on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Condolences and an online guestbook are available at www.palmarlerfh.com.
The daughter of the late Clyde Erwin Tanner and Dorothy Cabaniss Tanner, Bonnie was born on October 31, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas. Bonnie graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California. She continued her education and graduated from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Bonnie had a true passion for Genealogy, therefore, she earned her masters degree from Oklahoma State University in Genealogy and Archives.
Bonnie was united in marriage to Dr. William L. Fielding, Jr., on November 1, 1953 in Kansas City, Kansas. They made their home in Cushing where Bill began his career as a dentist. Bonnie dedicated her time working alongside her husband and being actively involved within the community. She was a very compassionate person who loved helping others and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the local P.E.O., Daughters of the American Revolution, Cushing Youth Center Board, and Geographic Club; all of which she held several leadership roles. Bonnie was also a member of various national organizations including the Mayflower Society, the Colonial Dames, the National Society of Magna Charta Dames, and the Cho Chin Sorority with Chi Omega affiliation.
Bonnie was a longtime member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Cushing, where she was recently honored as Elder Emeritus. She also served as choir director, elder, deacon, and board chairman.
Loving family members include three sons, Dr. Jeffrey Fielding and wife Sheree’ of Cushing and four daughters: Amanda Turner, husband Matt Turner, and great granddaughter Emery Turner of Coweta, Jessica Zwanziger and husband Dr. Brian Zwanziger of Ponca City, Chloe’ Fielding and Claire Fielding of Tahlequah; Dr. Gregory Fielding and wife Elizabeth of Cleveland and children: Ross Fielding, Katie Fielding, and Sarah Fielding; Dr. Bradley Fielding and wife Lynn of Edmond and four sons: Austin Fielding, Tanner Fielding, Drew Fielding and Hunter Fielding.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William L. Fielding, Jr.
