(Cushing, Okla.)  A big salute to Bobby Bryant, member of American Legion Post 108, for being elected July 26, 2015 as American Legion State Commander for Oklahoma. Bryant, a Navy/Seabees veteran, served two tours in Viet Nam and has been an active member of American Legion Post 108 since his return to Oklahoma in 2009.

Just prior to being elected as State Commander, Bryant served as Vice Commander West.

His passion for helping his fellow veterans has been evident through the years. During his time as the veteran’s representative at Workforce Oklahoma, Bryant helped numerous veterans find employment and training. He has also continued to be involved in the Forgotten Warrior Program in Payne County, and in 2014, he and his fellow veteran Carey Seigle (who has since moved to Florida) took on the role of Service Officers to aid veterans and their families with such things as ordering DD-214s, VA medical card applications, VA claim forms, employment and VA information. Both programs are provided by Post 108.

Because of the extensive traveling involved in his role as State Commander, Bryant told KUSH he was stepping down from his role as Service Officer and introduced J.W. Douglas as the new Service Officer for Post 108. Douglas will be at the Post (214 S. Noble Street, Cushing) the first and third Wednesday of each month from 9 – 11 a.m.

Bryant said his first trip as State Commander will be August 4th when he heads to Indianapolis, Indiana for a meeting.

“I’ve got a lot of traveling to do,” Bryant said with a smile.
