(Cushing, Okla.)  The Cushing Fire Department will be “competing” against the Cushing Police Department in an Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) blood drive on December 29th from 1 – 5 p.m. at the Cushing Public Safety Center.

The OBI reminds everyone that “every two seconds, someone needs blood, yet less than ten percent of those eligible to give blood do it. Blood donors with OBI know they are, literally, saving the lives of their friends, family and co-workers, some who may have no idea they will need blood in an urgent situation. One blood donation can save up to three peoples’ lives.

Cushing Fire Chief Chris Pixler said, “Anytime we [Cushing Fire Dept. and Cushing Police Dept.] can get together to help organizations like the OBI by hosting a friendly competition, we like to do so. It’s a really good cause. We hope a lot of people take part in it.”

Anyone wishing to donate blood at Monday’s OBI blood drive can call the Cushing Fire Department at 918-225-3361 or visit the OBI website for more information: www.obi.org  Each donor will receive a chance to win a 7-day Caribbean cruise for 2, courtesy of Cruises Inc. and a gift card for ground travel to port. All donors receive a FREE holiday T-shirt.
