Bill L. McCaslan, a Cushing resident, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009 in the Claremore V.A. Center, at the age of 79 years.

Funeral Services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in the Big Creek Church of the Brethren, Cushing, OK with Pastor John Holderread officiating.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The son of the late Kennedy McCaslan and Katrina (Fullerton) McCaslan, Bill was born on July 14, 1930 in the Blair, OK.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a graduate of Oklahoma A. & M. where he earned his Master’s degree.

Bill was united in marriage to Virginia King on February 25, 1955 in Stillwater, OK and to this union three children, Kenny, Vickie, and Kyle, were born.  Bill had worked for over 30 years for the Oklahoma Fish and Game Wildlife Department as a biologist, retiring in 1991 due to his health.  Of those 30 years, over 25 years were spent in Shattuck, OK where he and his wife raised their family.  Following his retirement they moved to Stillwater where they lived until moving to Cushing in 1999.  Bill was a member of the Big Creek Church of the Brethren and in his spare time he enjoyed following many sports (especially O.S.U.), both in person and on the radio.

Survivors include his wife Virginia of the home; two sons, Kenny McCaslan and his wife Peggy of Yale and Kyle Lee McCaslan of Joplin, MO; one daughter, Vickie Sue Hardaway and her husband Bill of Canyon, TX; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
