A benefit supper will be held Nov. 16th at the Cushing Catholic Church Parish Hall for Kristine Mertes, who was seriously injured in an accident east of Cushing on Aug. 30, 2009.

Everyone is invited to the fundraiser, which is scheduled from 5 – 7 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Parish Hall located directly south of the Cushing Middle School gymnasium at the corner of Oak and Steele Streets.

Kristine Mertes, Cushing, served as church secretary at the time of the accident.  She is married and has three sons.  She is the daughter of Cushing natives Nick and Kathy Anderson.

The benefit supper to help defray her extensive medical expenses is a joint effort of the Cushing and Drumright Catholic parishes.

The menu, which will be prepared by church members, includes beans with ham, fried potatoes, corn bread and desserts, as well as tea and coffee.  Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches will also be available for children.

Tickets will also be available at the door on Nov. 16th.

A money tree for donations will be available at the benefit supper.  Those who are unable to attend but would like to make a donation, may mail donations to STs. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, P.O. Box 828, Cushing, OK 74023.
