(Cushing, Okla.) The votes are in and the winner is…Jeremy Lee! Cushing Chamber Director Tracy Caulfield presented Jeremy Lee a framed certificate and $70 in Cushing Cash on Thursday for his “winged pig” image selected as this year’s BBQ n Blues logo.
Lee, a student of Danny Hogget’s Digital Printing & Imaging Communications class at Central Tech, is a junior at Depew High School. During the presentation, Caulfield told Lee he would receive a t-shirt with his “winged pig” logo, along with free tasting kits for his entire family at this year’s BBQ ‘n Blues, June 13th.
T-shirts, posters and frisbees will be imprinted with the new logo, as well as other advertising.
“Shirts with your logo will be worn, basically across the world,” Caulfield told Lee.
Representatives from oil and pipeline companies fly in each year to attend Cushing’s BBQ ‘n Blues festivities – including the annual golf tournament held on Thursday and Friday preceeding the public event on Saturday.
Hogget said for the past 6 or 7 years of his 37 year career at Central Tech, his students have submitted BBQ ‘n Blues logo designs to the committee.
“This has been an excellent project for my students, ” Hogget said.
Both of Hogget’s classes, morning and afternoon, were treated to pizza provided by local pipeline companies, Mazzio’s and the Cushing Chamber as a way to thank them for all their hard work.
“The students do a great job,” Caulfield said. “It’s always difficult for the committee to decide on just one.”
This year is the 20th year for Cushing’s BBQ ‘n Blues.
