(Cushing, Okla.) Baker Pharmacy’s Relay for Life team was on a quest to raise at least $5,000 by May 24th. The team surpassed the $5,000 mark by raising a total of $5,791.86 for the American Cancer Society.
As a way to make the fundraising more fun, Baker Pharmacy owner Doug Baker said he would allow his beard to be dyed purple and would wear it that way until after Relay for Life. Relay for Life will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at O’Dell Field.
The team raised the funds by holding bake sales each Friday throughout the month of May and through donations.
Local 4-H’er Hannah Blankinship helped them go over their goal by donating $100 she raised by showing her calves.
Doug Baker is a Hero for Hope for the American Cancer Society. Baker is scheduled to be a guest on the Donna & Molly Show, Thursday morning at 8 a.m. The Donna & Molly Show airs weekday mornings from 7 – 10 on KUSH 1600.
