(Stillwater) — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Cushing teenager who is being sought in seven property crimes investigated by Cushing Police Sgt. Mark Jobe.

Phillip Anthony Wright, 18, was originally charged with committing two car burglaries in Cushing in August, court records show.

But when Wright, who was free on $2,000 bond, failed to appear in court this week, Special District Judge Phillip Corley ordered a bench warrant for his arrest.

The following day, five more felonies were filed against him by Payne County Assistant District Attorney Charles Rogers.

If convicted of all of his charges, Wright could be given as much as a 45-prison term, court records show.

Currently Wright is accused of breaking into two cars in Cushing on Aug. 17, another car in Cushing on May 16, a residence in Cushing on Aug. 8 and a car in Cushing on Aug. 15.

Wright is also accused of entering property with intent to steal copper wire stored in the bed of a vehicle owned by Buckles Electric in Cushing, and possessing that stolen copper, both on Aug. 15.

His co-defendant in the copper case only, Devin William Hulsey, 20, of Cushing, who was sent to state prison boot camp for six months last year, is also being sought, court records show.

Hulsey currently is on five years’ probation for possessing a sawed-off shotgun and marijuana in September 2007, uttering a forged check to Stillwater National Bank in July 2008, running his vehicle into a girlfriend’s car in February 2008 and choking her in Cushing in August 2008, court records show.

If convicted of his charges involving the copper wire stolen from Buckles Electric Company, Hulsey could be given as much as a 10-year prison term, court records show.

Hulsey also faces the possibility that his probation could be revoked in his earlier cases and be sent to prison for nearly 20 years, court records show.
