(Cushing, Okla.) American Legion Post 108 is planning on having a second wave of bricks installed in the Walk of Honor – just in time for Memorial Day, May 30, 2011.
Ferrel Kleckner, Viet Nam vet and American Legion member, stopped by the Donna and Molly Show Friday, to let listeners and website visitors know there is still time to order a brick and have it installed before Memorial Weekend. That deadline is Tuesday, March 15th, 2011.
“We know a lot of folks come home for Alumni Weekend and we sure want them to come see the Walk of Honor,” Kleckner said.
American Legion Post 108 added the Walk of Honor last year as a way to honor veterans. A dedication ceremony was held on Veteran’s Day, 2010.
The bricks are $50 each. Three lines of text are allowed with 15 characters each. “If someone has…say… 16 characters,” Kleckner said, “we can work with that, too!”
Those purchasing a brick are also urged to furnish Kleckner a photo of the veteran and information regarding their service, including any anecdotal information, that can be included in a reference-type book/CD that will allow visitors to get to know who the veterans are/were and how they served.
To place an order, call Farrel Kleckner at 918-225-4854. Click here for more information regarding American Legion Post 108: www.post108.org
March 15, 2011, the American Legion will celebrate its 92nd birthday. Post 108 will honor the occasion with a celebratory dinner for its members and special guests.
