American Legion Post 108 raised a flag – the SeaBee flag- to honor those who have served or are serving in the Seabees.  March 5th noted the 68th birthday of the SeaBees – a lesser-known branch of the military.

According to Wikipedia, the SeaBees are the Construction Battalions (CBs) of the United States Navy.  They have a history of building bases, bulldozing and paving thousands of miles of roadway and airstrips, as well as accomplishing a myriad of other construction projects in a variety of military theatres dating back to World War II.

According to Post Commander Jim Hunter, the SeaBee birthday is just the first to be honored by flying of the flag at the Legion building.  “We plan on flying the flag of the branch that is celebrating a birthday,” Hunter said.

Bobby Bryant, a proud SeaBee and Post 108 member, summed up what they do by quoting the SeaBee motto, “Can do!”

Next on the list for Cushing American Legion – a birthday party for the American Legion on March 15th.  They will be celebrating 91 years!
