Alvin Chester Butcher, retired farmer and oil field driller, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 in the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 91 years.

The son of the late Fred Butcher and Lillie Johnson Butcher, Alvin was born on October 18, 1916, in Ingalls, OK where he was raised and educated in Ingalls.

He was united in marriage to Waunita Aleene Dawes on April 15, 1938 and to this union three children, Rosalie, Fred and Nila were born.

Alvin will be remembered for his passion of farming/ranching and the many years of working in the oil field. Alvin enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Yale. He had served on the Ingalls Cemetery Board for several years.

He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Aleene, of the home; two children, Fred Butcher and his wife Linda of Yale and Nila Williams and her husband Gene of Maramec; one sister Rose McGinty of Stillwater; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter Rosalie Butcher Raper; one brother Melvin Butcher; two sisters, Bessie Boyle and Bonnie James; one grandson, David Williams and one great-granddaughter Leslie Swart.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 2 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church of Yale with Brother Michael Dersham and Pastor John Marks officiating.

Burial will follow in the Ingalls Cemetery.
