(Cushing, Okla.)  It’s Alumni Week in Cushing and that means there will be a lot of familiar faces swapping stories and sharing memories at Alumni Hall in downtown Cushing this week and at all the scheduled events this weekend.

This is the 30th year for the Cushing Alumni Association and they’ve pulled out all the stops to make this year special.

It started off with a bang when a proclamation was made at the regular monthly meeting of the Cushing Board of Commissioners Monday night declaring May 18 – 23 Alumni Week in Cushing. Officers of the Alumni Associated accepted the proclamation from Chairman of the Board (and Cushing alumnus) Terry Brannon.

Alumni Hall is open from 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day this week for visitors to come in and take a look at all the memorabilia including years and years of CHS yearbooks.

Friday, May 22nd, Alumni Hall will have Silent Auction on display all day and from 2 – 4 p.m. will host an Open House. This is the perfect time to meet up with former classmates and have a photo taken with the “Mystery Door.”

Friday evening is left open for classes to have their own activities.

Then Saturday..

Lions Club will once again hold their annual Pancake Breakfast from 7 – 10:30 a.m. A $5 ticket gets you pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee – and the opportunity to visit before the parade begins.

(Rain, rain stay away, please won’t you wait ’til later in the day!)

The parade is schedule to start at 11 a.m. with lineup at 10:30 a.m. The 2015 Parade Marshal is Dale Cotham, Class of 1962, who has been involved with the Association since its inception.

At noon, there will be music in Downtown Cushing as a wide variety of Alumni members gather at Centennial Park share their musical talents. Participants include Harry Escott, Larry Sparkman, Curt and Cam, Diana Sue, Judy Adams and more! Grab your lawn chairs and join in the fun.

The evening festivities will be held at the Cushing-Drumright Elk’s Lodge starting with a dinner catered by Cushing High School FFA from 6 – 7 p.m.

Don’t forget to check out and bid on the Silent Auction items! Bidding will end at 8 p.m. (cash or checks only)

The program begins at approximately 7 p.m. with Hall of Fame inductions and introductions of this year’s scholarship recipients. This year’s Hall of Fame inductees are Terry Hoggat (posthumously) and Lou Griffin. Scholarship recipients are Ian Mertes and Jett Shaffer.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. Golden Reflections will get the party started by spinning some familiar tunes.

(Anyone wishing to attend the program part of the evening may pay $10 at the door. No food will be served.)

So roll up your britches, put on your dancing shoes and celebrate 30 years of the Cushing Alumni Association!
