Alice May Mitchell, a longtime Yale resident, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, at the age of 76.  Funeral services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Yale, and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Yale Okla.  Interment will follow at Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Oklahoma.

    Alice was born on February 18, 1938 in Sand springs, Oklahoma to the late Everett Dennis and Zella (Kizer) Dennis.  Alice married the love of her life Bryce (Shorty) Mitchell on November 5, 1955 in Huntsville, Arkansas. Together they moved to Yale in 1957 where they made their home and raised their five boys, Gerry, Kerry, Anthony, Thomas and Keith. Alice was a hard working mom; she worked for OSU maintenance department for a short time and then worked at the dairy hut in Yale as a cook. Alice enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and making baby booties’, and making doilies’, she especially enjoyed making doilies’ with the family name in the middle of the doilies’. Alice loved tending to the rose garden she had, and taking time to stop and smell the roses, she also loved having friends and family over to visit and spending quality time with them as much as she could.

     Alice is survived by her five sons: Kerry Mitchell and wife Willneta of Buffalo Oklahoma, Gerry Mitchell, Anthony Mitchell, Thomas Mitchell, Keith Mitchell and wife Janice all of Yale, Oklahoma. Two sisters: Martha Petitt and Jan Petitt both of Yale, Oklahoma. 10 grandchildren: Jeremy and Kera Mitchell, Tony Harmon and wife Lara, Dallas Johnson, Harley and Carley Mitchell, Amanda Harmon, Amy and husband Andy Edens, Ranoda Watts, and Mikala Mitchell. 5 great-grand children: Andrew and Ashlyn Edens, Mary Record, Naomi Harmon and Tavith Mitchell

     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bryce (Shorty) Mitchell, an infant grandson, John Allen Mitchell, and one brother: George Dennis.
