Alfreda Louise (Byers) Tibbett, longtime Cushing resident passed away at age 75 on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at her home.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Cushing.  Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, OK.

She was the middle of five daughters of Ted Earl and Fay (Kanady) Byers, born on July 19, 1936 at Rt.1, Agra, OK. She attended Fairview Grade School thru 4th grade, then attended Kendrick Grade School 5th-6th grade. In 1948, Alfreda’s family moved to Cushing where she started in the 7th grade and was a graduate of Cushing High School with the class of 1954.  She was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on August 3, 1950, by the late Bro. Johney Corter of Tulare, California. She was united in marriage to Robert Wayne Tibbett on April 24, 1955, at her parents home, 301 East Second, Cushing, OK by the late Bro. Cecil Dobbs of Hobart, Oklahoma. To this union four children where born, three sons, Darrell Wayne, Randall Lee and Bruce Lynn and one daughter Becky Lou. They made their first home in Wynnewood, OK. They then moved to Fort Ord, Calif. while Wayne was in the army. When Wayne went overseas, Alfreda lived at Drumright and worked as a telephone operator. He returned in 1958, and they built a new home north of Agra, OK. They lived in Ponca City in 1963 for one year then returned to their home in Agra, where they stayed until 1973, They then moved to their home in Cushing where she lived until her passing. Alfreda was a devoted mother and companion. She loved her family very much. She was always involved in her children’s activities and enjoyed helping in Cub Scouts,   4-H projects, the concession stand for the band boosters, or where ever she was needed. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, which were skills, she was taught by her mother. She enjoyed extending a hand to those in need and helping her husband. This sometimes meant working with Wayne at Escott’s, in the meat department, wrapping meat when he needed extra help. She loved keeping the meat counters full and looking pretty.  Alfreda loved spoiling her grandchildren and always looked forward to the times she could keep them overnight (grandma & grandpa’s time spent without parents). She enjoyed and loved each one of her grandchildren very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Febuary 17, 2012, one beloved son, Darrell Tibbett, two infant grand-daughters, Sissy Tibbett and Cassidy Castor, her parents, Ted and Faye Byers two older sisters, Dorothy Rhodes and Lilia Percell, and one very dear niece, Gladys Farrow. Alfreda leaves behind two sons, Randall Tibbett and wife Diane of Sapulpa, Bruce Tibbett and wife Nikki of Tulare California, One daughter Becky Castor and husband Randy of Vici, OK, her grandchildren Destinee Carmichael and husband Jarod of Sapulpa, Ok, Ashley Possin and husband Aaron of Spokane Washington, Grant Tibbett of Glenpool, Ok, Dana’e Pippin and husband Jerod of Sapulpa, OK, Amy Bramante and husband Josiah of Tulare, California, Robert Castor and wife Jessica of Vici, OK, Colby Castor of Cushing, Ok, DaLecia Tibbett of Sapulpa, Ok, Randall, Trystynn and Colton Castor of Vici, Ok, Tad and Tye Tibbett of Tulare California, her great grand children Blade and Cali Carmichael, Jayden and Annaleice Possin, Zoe and Max Pippin, and Callen Castor. Two sisters LaQuita Dahlke and Nadine McFadden and One Brother-in-law Glenn Percell all of Cushing, Aunt Myrtle Knott of OKC, several nieces and nephews a host of friends and brethren. She was a loving and caring person and will be missed greatly by all.
