The first time is always special – especially when playing host for the Special Olympics. Cushing played host to over 65 participants in this year’s individual softball skills event held Tuesday.
The event was held at the CHS ball field. Catching, throwing, hitting from a tee were all part of the fun.
Special Education teacher Cathy Smith was thrilled Cushing was named host for the first time ever.
“The Special Olympics team is so helpful,” Smith said. “They are good about calling and reminding you what you need to be doing at what time.”
As for the possibility of playing host again some time…”It could happen,” Smith smiled.
