(Cushing) – The Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma are set to perform a free concert Thursday night at the Cushing High School Auditorium, in one of about a dozen performances the choir will give this season. The event is free and open to the public and will begin at 7:00 at the CHS Auditorium. About 250 women from across the eastern half of the state will gather in Cushing beginning at noon. The group will rehearse throughout the afternoon, and give the performance in the evening.

Formed in 1989, the Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma is an auditioned choir that now numbers more than 500 members. The group is divided into two choirs, one from membership east of I-35, the other from the western half of the state.

Three Cushing residents are members of the choir, including Denise Kinzie, who is President-Elect of the group, Christie Hickman who teaches music in Cushing Public Schools, and Paula Jolley.

The conductor is Dr. Bill Green.

The group has performed in several states and has traveled abroad for performances in Romania and Hungary.

A love offering will be taken and CDs of the group will be available for sale.

Denise Kinzie talks more about the concert tomorrow morning at 9:35 on the Donna & Molly Show on 1600 AM KUSH Radio.
