(Cushing, Okla.) The Cushing Alumni Association has selected two people for induction to the Alumni Hall of Fame.
This years recipients are: Teresa (Keith) Walsh and Sean M. Kelly.
Teresa is a 1973 graduate of Cushing High School and currently resides in Leawood, Kansas with her husband Tom. She has three children, Hailey Bland Walsh, Kelsey Walsh Perry and Spencer Walsh and his wife Laura Beth.
She is the co-founder of Silpada Designs, a multi-million dollar company and is very involved with the Oncology Nurse Navigator Program at the University of Kansas Cancer Center along with supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Sean was a 1978 Cushing High School graduate. He was married to his wife Mary for 30 years, has one son Aaron Kelly, a daughter-in-law Jacintha and one granddaugther Cadence who was the apple of his eye.
Sean was the owner of 1600 KUSH radio and was known as “The Voice of the Cimarron Valley”, which has been a staple in the community for over 60 years. He served as the past president of the Cushing Alumni Association as well as serving on the Cushing Chamber board. Sean loved his community, helped civic groups with their local fundraisers, as well as attended city commision meetings.
Sean’s passion was sports and enjoyed doing play by play and broadcasting the high school football and basketball games. He also delighted in mentoring and sharing his knowledge with the younger generation. One of his favorite events was announcing the Cushing Christmas parade for many years.
Due to his sudden passing earlier this year, his wife Mary and son Aaron will be accepting the award in his honor.
The Hall of Fame presentations will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Cushing/Drumright Elk’s Lodge.
