(Durham, NC) – The Oklahoma State Cowgirls knew they had an uphill climb for the season opener, going against the Duke Blue Devils to start the season on the road Friday night. The Cowgirls led by nine at halftime after a 7-0 run, but couldn’t close the deal at Cameron Indoor Stadium, losing 77-68.

A 20-0 run early in the 2nd half put Duke on top to stay, despite 29 points from Andrea Riley. The Cowgirls were out-rebounded 57-42 including 26 offensive rebounds for Duke that led to 26 points for the Lady Blue Devils.

OSU opens the home portion of the 2008-09 season against McNeese State Tuesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
