(Cushing) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a 13 year old rural Perkins youth was killed in a one car traffic accident this morning in rural Payne County. The accident occurred about 8:50 AM, Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Justin Dean Baker, 13, of Perkins.
The OHP says Baker was driving an SUV eastbouind on Eseco Road, west of SH18 when he lost control of the vehicle and went into a slide. The vehicle struck a tree, rolled onto its top and caught fire.
Baker was pinned in the wreckage for about two hours, and died at the scene.
Baker was a student in the Ripley School District, and as a result of the accident, the start of classes in Ripley schools have been delayed a week.
