(Cushing, Okla) — Tuesday night, Sept 15th, found a pride of Lions dining at the Fechner Event Center in Cushing as they were honored by their District Governor, Rob Bodick of Ponca City, who was present to install the new officers that officially took office back in July. President Russell Thurman is now in command as he replaced outgoing President Mary Kelly. Richard Thackray moved up to First Vice President and Temple Diehl will fill the Second Vice President spot. Many Lions remained in their current positions:
Kateri Holbert – Secretary
Chuck Crooks – Treasurer
Lion Tamer – Buck Blake
Tale Twister – Jason Thibodeau
The Governor also swore in new member Michael Hanes, the newest member of the Cushing Lions.
The Lions feasted on a great Pork meal provided by Naifeh’s and topped it off with desserts brought by the members.
Vice President Lion Thackray vowed that the next two years will be a push on bringing in “Younger Blood” so that the Cushing Lions Club will be around for another 100 years as this coming spring they will celebrate their first 100 years in existence.
If you know anything about “networking” you want to be a part of this organization. Please stop by the Steer Inn on Main Street Cushing on a Tuesday (other than the first Tuesday of a month) for their Noon meeting. They continually have interesting guest presentations weekly.
