Nashville, Tenn. (June 5, 2026) – Oklahoma’s newest band, Buckersfield, have released their debut single, “Drugstore Cowboy.” The song is available via all major digital outlets here.

Written by influential Oklahoma singer-songwriter T.Z. Wright, “Drugstore Cowboy” is a perfect fit for the band to showcase its affinity for California-country styled musical influences. Buckersfield is right at home in that vein as they are a band who pays tribute to California country music, specifically the Bakersfield Sound made famous by Merle Haggard, Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakam, and the artists who were influenced by it.

“Drugstore Cowboy” was recorded at Cimarron Sound Lab and Day Sound Studio and engineered and produced by Jeffrey Parker and Buckersfield. The track features Buckersfield band members Jeff Lewis on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, Jeffrey Parker on acoustic and electric guitars and backing vocals, Terry Day on steel guitar, J.D. Smart on bass guitar and D.J.Gray on drums. The track was mixed at Cimarron Sound Lab, Tahlequah OK, and mastered by Tim Scheponik at The Sound Lab.

At the helm of Buckersfield are two amazing Oklahoma musical talents, Jeff Lewis and Jeffrey Parker, who share a lot of history together. They both were in Lewis’ Delta Band together in the Eighties, and both credit those days as the catalyst behind the recent formation of Buckersfield.

ABOUT BUCKERSFIELD

Buckersfield is an exciting new band of music industry veterans who pay tribute to the pioneers and torchbearers of the iconic Bakersfield Sound. From Oklahoma roots to central California twang, their setlist and live show honor the legendary talents who put the musical style known as the Bakersfield Sound on the map. From Buck Owens and Merle Haggard to trailblazers Wynn Stewart and Billy Mize, Buckersfield also features music from Dwight Yoakam, Rodney Crowell, the Desert Rose Band, the Flying Burrito Brothers, and others who were influenced by the Bakersfield Sound.

Members of the Buckersfield band are seasoned pros who have toured nationally, and shared stages with Buck Owens, Rodney Crowell, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and many other national acts. They deliver Bakersfield’s trademark sound with the energy, polish, and heart that keeps audiences coming back. At the helm of the band are two amazing Oklahoma musical talents, Jeff Lewis and Jeffrey Parker, who share a lot of history together. They both were in Lewis’ Delta Band together in the Eighties, and both credit those days as the catalyst behind the recent formation of Buckersfield.

Jeff Lewis, acoustic guitarist and principal vocalist of Buckersfield, grew up singing Southern Gospel and drew musical influences from Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard, and Elvis. Fresh out of high school, Lewis formed The Delta Band in the mid-Eighties and toured regionally in Oklahoma, Texas, and Arizona. By the early Nineties Lewis relocated to Nashville to hone his skills as a budding songwriter, and over the next few years he became a staff writer for several high-profile publishing houses, including McFadden Music (owned by Jack McFadden who managed Buck Owens, Billy Ray Cyrus and Keith Whitley), Glen Campbell Music, and Coheart Publishing (founded by legendary songwriters Willie Nelson, Hank Cochran and Glen Martin.) Lewis also toured across America at that time with the Hillbilly Bastards (which featured Tom T. Hall’s son Dean on lead guitar). He also began to participate in and produce Elvis shows and festivals.

Jeffrey Parker, guitarist and backing vocalist of Buckersfield, draws influences from The Eagles, The Buckaroos, and Emmylou Harris’s Hot Band, along with guitarists Don Rich, Albert Lee, and Joe Walsh. Parker has been at the forefront of the Oklahoma music scene since the Seventies when his band Xebec made waves across USA and Europe. Those early experiences led Parker to become one of the most in-demand touring and session musicians in the Sooner State. He joined Lewis in The Delta Band in the mid-Eighties and toured regionally. In the Nineties, Parker began a long association with the Red Dirt music scene in Oklahoma. At his studio, Cimarron Sound Lab, he engineered/co-produced two albums for Cross Canadian Ragweed, ‘Live and Loud at the Wormy Dog’ and ‘Carney.’ He also engineered overdubs for producer Lloyd Maines on the Jason Boland album ‘Pearl Snaps,’ and was co-producer and engineer for the ‘Red Dirt Sampler First Volume’ album that featured legendary fiddle player Byron Berline, along with Red Dirt pioneers Tom Skinner’s Band Farmboy, The Great Divide and the Red Dirt Rangers.

Lewis and Parker are joined in Buckersfield by a stellar touring band that includes Parker’s longtime friends and tour mates, featuring Terry Day on steel guitar, J.D. Smart on bass, and D.J. Gray on drums.

Buckersfield is not your typical tribute band—Buckersfield is a full experience. The show can be presented as a multimedia production with video and storytelling that highlights the history of the Bakersfield movement, or as a straight-ahead concert performance, depending on the venue’s setup. Either way, audiences get the same authentic Telecaster twang and Bakersfield energy.
