STILLWATER — A former Oklahoma State University student has been ordered to appear in court on April 6 on a Payne County charge of burglarizing classrooms on the Stillwater campus from which electronic equipment valued at $16,670 was stolen between July 25, 2025, and Aug. 21, 2025, before reportedly being offered for sale on Facebook Marketplace.
Jax McKade Miller, 23, of Oklahoma City, “was a student at OSU until the end of the summer semester of 2025. Mr. Miller had in person classes during the summer months Monday through Thursday.
“It appears his class was in Life Science West, which is located in the central part of campus across the street from two buildings which had items stolen, Physical Sciences and Legacy Hall,” OSU Police Officer Kyle McCool alleged in an affidavit.
“I utilized a fake Facebook account to view the items being sold on Facebook Marketplace by a profile with the name of ‘Jay Miller,"” believed to be fake, the OSU officer alleged in his affidavit.
“When looking at ‘Jay Miller’s’ Marketplace listings, I observed a Sony Projector Model VPL-PHZ61, a Lenovo ThinkStation P360 Ultra and a HP Z2 Mini G9. All items in which ‘Jay Miller’ was attempting to sell matched the brand and model from what was stolen from OSU classrooms.
“I contacted the Oklahoma City Police Department’s Organized Retail Theft Unit and spoke to Detective Clifford Damon. I requested OCPD Detective Damon to attempt to buy an item listed by ‘Jay Miller.’
“Detective Damon advised he set up a potential buy in Oklahoma City on 9/2/25…Detective Damon notified me they completed a buy bust on the seller who was identified as Jax Miller. Detective Damon advised they confirmed the HP computer by serial number.
“Detective Damon informed me they went to Mr. Miller’s residence and located the Lenovo brand computer and confirmed by serial number it was stolen from OSU. He also informed me he located two JBL tower speakers,” with serial numbers that proved they belonged to OSU, the OSU officer alleged in his affidavit.
After obtaining a search warrant, “I observed numerous conversations between ‘Jay Miller’ and individuals inquiring to purchase items he had posted for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The items people were inquiring about were the processors, HP computers, Lenovo computer, tower speakers and projectors.
“Based on the number of conversations, ‘Jay Miller’ was having regarding the processors, I believe he may have taken the processors out of the HP computers and sold both items separately; however, this would have made the computers inoperable.
“Based on Jax Miller with the Facebook profile of ‘Jay Miller’ selling and attempting to sell numerous items which all previously were located in OSU classrooms and Mr. Miller having classes in the same vicinity where these items were stolen, Jax Miller should be charged with burglary,” the officer alleged in his affidavit for an arrest warrant.
According to Payne County court records, Miller was arrested on Nov. 13, 2025, and freed that same day on $10,000 bond on the felony second-degree burglary charge punishable by up to seven years in prison on conviction.
Miller was also charged in Oklahoma County on Oct. 16, 2025, with two counts of possessing stolen property and one count of violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act, all on Sept. 2, 2025. Miller was released on $3,000 bond with an order to appear in Oklahoma County District Court on March 30 for a preliminary hearing conference.
