STILLWATER — A 40-year-old man has been accused of choking his wife, holding a knife against her throat while threatening to kill her, and punching her repeatedly in the presence of their two children at her rural Stillwater residence, three days before Christmas.
Micah Shawn Barron of Alvin, Texas pleaded innocent at his arraignment on New Year’s Eve. He remains free on $100,000 bond pending a March 2 court appearance on a three-count domestic violence charge punishable by up to 21 years’ incarceration on conviction.
Payne County Sheriff’s Deputy Phillip Shiplett was sent to the woman’s residence shortly after 9 am on Dec. 22, 2025, on a report of a domestic assault that was not in progress, according to his affidavit filed on the day after Christmas.
“She explained to me that the suspect, her husband, Micah Barron, dragged her out of the bed and proceeded to try to kill her and take her kids. She believes that it may have all started a little before 1 am and ended at approximately 3:36 am, with Micah leaving and returning during that time.
“She said while crying that Micah tried to rape her, placed a knife to her throat and strangled her. She explained that her daughter was in the bedroom sleeping and that her son was sleeping in the crib next to her bed, where the assault started.
“She was telling me that she had asked Micah for a divorce about a month ago and that Micah had taken the kids and had her committed by a third party because she was having some postpartum depression.
“She said that Micah had arrived at their residence unexpectedly yesterday (Dec. 21), and she told him they didn’t need to stay there together. She explained that she placed their two children in bed, and then Micah grabbed her by her hair and dragged her to the back porch, held her down, and hit and choked her.
“She said that Micah took the kids and left. She said Micah had returned a little bit later and started to beat her up again. She said Micah was taking the ornaments from the Christmas tree and throwing them on the ground. She told Micah that their daughter can see what he is doing and that he needed to stop.
“I asked her how Micah had choked her, and she explained that she was lying on the back porch with his knees pinning her shoulders down and choking her with both hands around her neck. She thought Micah was going to kill her.
“She told me that Micah said, ‘You’re going to die, b .’ and that he was going to take her to the pond and drown her, that he was going to rape her, was going to kill her, and held a knife to her throat. She wasn’t sure how many times he had hit her,” the deputy alleged in his affidavit.
She had a black eye, along with bruising on both ears, around her neck, her chest and the back of her right shoulder, the affidavit said. She said, “he threw scissors and other utensils at her and threatened to slice her throat with the large bread knife that was in her sink,” the affidavit alleged.
“She stated that she had to walk to a neighbor’s house to call for help because Micah had taken her phone and car keys from her car. She believes that Micah had broken her orbital bone under her left eye and that he also hit her in her ribs, and her arms were messed up,” the affidavit alleged.
Asked where he might be heading, “she said that she wasn’t sure, but that they had a camper in Midland, Texas. She remembered Micah saying that he was going to go to her (relative’s) residence. She said Micah was driving a white Dodge dually with a Texas tag. LifeNet arrived and evaluated her and then took her to the Stillwater Medical Center ER,” the affidavit said.
“I noticed that the television screen in the living room had been broken, all the ornaments had been removed from the Christmas tree and smashed on the floor, and there was dirt scattered on the kitchen floor from some plants sitting on the floor that had been knocked over. There was a pair of scissors on the kitchen floor.
“I later became aware of a large bread knife in the kitchen sink when talking to her. In the bedroom, the television was hanging partially off the stand that it was sitting on, and the bedding was in disarray. On the back porch, there were some fresh scrapes in the decking. There also appeared to be an area on deck where something appeared to have been drug across.
“Besides the beer bottle on the kitchen counter, there was also one in the trash outside and another one on the ground a few feet from the trash can. I checked the one on the ground, and it still had beer in it.
“She stated that Micah had done stuff like this before, but she had been able to get away from him. She said this time it was really, really, really bad even for him,” the deputy alleged in his affidavit.
