STILLWATER — A 24-year-old Stillwater man has been jailed on $75,000 bond pending a July 7 court appearance on charges of possessing 100 or more images and videos of child sexual abuse material, as well as distributing child pornography through various Kik accounts between Sept. 29, 2024, and Feb. 20, 2025.
If convicted of aggravated possession of child sexual abuse material, Artie Enlow Smith III could be given a life prison sentence. If convicted of an additional count of distribution of child pornography, Smith could be given a prison term of three to 20 years, court records show.
Smith was arrested at his residence at 8:26 am on June 11 by Stillwater Police Detective Stephanie Wheeler, who had obtained multiple search warrants during a months-long investigation, according to an affidavit.
“During the interrogation, Smith admitted to creating about 10 Kik accounts. He admitted to receiving and sending child sexual abuse material in messages through these accounts,” the affidavit alleged.
