STILLWATER — A Stillwater man convicted of multiple thefts in Utah and a woman, who goes by “Isabella Rose” on Facebook, have been charged together with robbing a man that she said solicited her, court records show.
Troy Harvey Dooley, 41, and Laney Rose Hutchison, 21, could each be imprisoned for five to 50 years if convicted of robbery by two or more persons. They could each be given a one-year jail term if convicted of an additional count of misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine.
Dooley remains free on $30,000 bond with an order to appear in court on June 4 with an attorney. Hutchison remains jailed on $50,000 bond pending a court appearance on June 9.
On March 20, a man reported to Stillwater Police Officer Joshua Gomez that “he had been robbed by Troy Dooley and a female, who goes by ‘Isabella Rose,’ who was later identified as Laney Hutchison,” an affidavit alleged.
“He said he spoke to Laney on Facebook Messenger, and they arranged for him to come to Troy Dooley’s house to pick her up. He arrived, and she got in the passenger seat. Then, Troy Dooley opened the driver’s door and pushed a tan-colored handgun into his ribs,” Stillwater Police Detective Chance Whiteley alleged in an affidavit.
“As he did so, Laney took his phone from its mount. Troy told him to scoot over, and Troy entered the vehicle, then drove all of them to the exit from the trailer park. He stopped and got out; then Laney got into the driver’s seat,” the affidavit alleged.
“Laney drove her and (the man) to his hotel. He said he was afraid to do anything for fear she would call Troy, and he would come with his pistol to harm him. When they arrived, Laney got out and told him they were going to his room. His card wouldn’t work so they went to the front desk and got a new one.
“They entered his room, and Laney rummaged through his belongings. She took his wallet and two knives, along with the cell phone she had previously taken. She then exited the room. He quickly closed the door and followed her to the parking lot. Troy Dooley then appeared in the parking lot and left with Laney. He (the victim) then called the police,” the affidavit alleged.
When the detective showed photographs of the pair, the victim recognized them, the affidavit alleged.
Dooley, Hutchison, and another person were arrested at his residence later than day “and were found to have methamphetamine, guns, and various drug paraphernalia in their residence,” the affidavit alleged.
“During interviews, Laney disclosed that (the victim) solicited her, and she decided instead to steal his money and planned the crime with Troy,” and another person, the affidavit alleged. Court records show that the other person was only charged with misdemeanor drug possession.
“When he arrived and didn’t have the money, they started to drive to the hotel. Troy then opened the door to the car because it wasn’t going to plan and pushed a pistol into (the victim’s) ribs. He then got in the car and began driving. Laney told him she would drive (the victim) to the hotel and get the money.
“Troy exited the vehicle, and Laney got into the driver’s seat. Troy (and the other person) met her at the hotel to give her a ride back after she had taken what she could from (the victim.) Laney said she took his wallet, knife, phone, and his methamphetamine.
When a search warrant was served on Troy Dooley’s residence where Laney Hutchison and another person were also staying, various items of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were found, the affidavit alleged.
“There were also two handguns recovered, one of which was a 1911 style handgun like (the victim) had described being used in the robbery,” the affidavit alleged.
“Laney said the handguns belonged to Troy,” the affidavit alleged.
