(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Stillwater man with two prior drug-related convictions has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for trafficking fentanyl and possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Christopher Owen Mulvey, 46, who pleaded guilty to both counts, was sentenced last week by District Judge Phillip Corley, who told him that if he successfully completed the Bill Johnson Drug Offender Work Camp program, he would suspend the balance of his prison term.
Mulvey had previously been placed on five years’ probation in 2010 on two separate cases of possessing pseudoephedrine with intent to manufacture methamphetamine in 2009 in Payne County, court records show.
In his latest case, Mulvey was arrested at 3:50 pm on July 28, 2023, after a search warrant was served at his residence, which was entered with a ram by police after no one answered the door, an affidavit said.
Stillwater Police Detective Josh Carson wrote in an affidavit, “In the southeast bedroom, I encountered a male standing near the closet I know as Christopher Mulvey. I know Mulvey is heavily involved in drug trafficking from previous encounters and investigations.
“I located a baggy under a dresser in the closet Mulvey was standing near that contained numerous blue M30 pills. I know from my training these are pressed fentanyl pills that have recently been plaguing the Stillwater area.
“I also found a large amount of a clear substance that appeared to be methamphetamine in a dresser in the same room. A set of working digital scales and packaging material was also located. Mulvey told me it was his room where all the drugs were found.”
A total of 2.5 grams of fentanyl was seized, which is two and one-half times the amount required for trafficking, the affidavit said. Also 6.5 grams of methamphetamine was seized, the affidavit said.
