(Stillwater, Okla.) — Bail has been set at $500,000 for a woman accused of trafficking methamphetamine on Jan. 11 while she was free on $100,000 bail on a charge of trafficking fentanyl on May 25, 2023, both in Stillwater.
If convicted of two separate drug trafficking charges, Britnee Dawn Alexander, 35, of Stillwater, could be given a 40-year prison term plus a $450,000 fine, court records show.
During a traffic stop, Alexander was a passenger in her car that was being driven by Rozche Carmella Marie Martin, 28, of Stillwater, who was ordered jailed on $150,000 bail on a charge of trafficking methamphetamine, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $200,000 fine, court records show.
Both women, who are scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 5, had been arrested at 4:30 pm on Jan. 11– about 15 minutes after Stillwater Police Detective Newly McSpadden spotted Alexander’s red car in a hotel parking lot in “a high drug trafficking area,” according to his affidavit.
“Martin informed me she did not have a driver’s license. I observed the passenger to be Britnee Alexander,” McSpadden alleged in his affidavit.
“Martin told me they just left the hotel and she had been visiting her cousin there. Martin stated they were at the hotel for approximately 10 minutes and Alexander stayed inside the vehicle. I then spoke with Alexander about the travel plans, and she stated they had been at the hotel for approximately one hour, and they both had been inside the hotel.
“Due to them leaving a high drug trafficking area, the nervous behavior and the differing stories on their travel plans, I had Martin exit the vehicle so I could use my state certified K9 Egon to conduct a free air examination around the vehicle,” McSpadden alleged in his affidavit.
After the narcotics dog indicated the presence of the odor of illegal drugs inside the vehicle, it was searched, the affidavit alleged.
“The total weight for the crystal-like substance seized between Martin and Alexander weighed 23.02 grams,” of suspected methamphetamine, the affidavit alleged.
Both women were also charged with possessing a methamphetamine smoking pipe with residue, a misdemeanor carrying a maximum penalty of a one-year jail term and $1,000 fine.
Alexander was also charged with possessing a controlled drug, Tramadol, without a prescription, a misdemeanor carrying a maximum penalty of a one-year jail term and $1,000 fine. Martin was also charged with driving without a license, a misdemeanor carrying a maximum penalty of 30 days in jail and a $300 fine.
