(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 29-year-old Cushing man has been ordered to appear in court on Oct. 19 for arraignment on a felony charge alleging he embezzled $2,831.23 from the Cushing Walmart while he was employed there during August and September.
Dylan Gene Day, who was arrested at the Cushing store at 4:55 pm on Sept. 6 by Cushing Police Officer Katherine Hinkle, remains free on $5,000 bond, court records show. If convicted of embezzlement by employee, Day could be given as much as an eight-year prison term and a $10,000 fine.
“Day filled out a Walmart statement form where he admitted to loading gift cards with money without paying. He also admitted to being responsible for $2,532, which included the cards and an iPhone 14,” the officer’s affidavit alleged.
Questioned by the Cushing officer, “He admitted to being responsible for the gift cards and had been loading gift cards for about a week. He also admitted he bought an iPad and keyboard that cost $299.23,” the affidavit alleged.
