(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 27-year-old Cushing man accused of stealing a golf cart from the Remington Ranch apartment complex in Stillwater has been ordered to appear in court today on a felony charge punishable by as much as a five-year prison term on conviction.
Braden Andrew Vaughn was ordered jailed on $10,000 bail following his arrest at the Cimarron Plaza shopping center by Stillwater Police Officer James Droescher at 2:49 pm on March 15, court records show.
The Stillwater officer was sent to the Cimarron Plaza on a report that a “caller had located a golf cart belong to the Remington Ranch apartment complex and that they had the driver on scene.”
The officer alleged in his affidavit, “While placing Braden into handcuffs, he made the statement that he was the one who had taken the cart, without being questioned.
“Braden told me that he had been at the Grand Lake Mental Health facility seeing treatment for his addiction.
“Braden said that he had become tired of waiting and checked himself out in the morning.
“Braden told me that after he checked out, he had been drinking. Braden stated that he had taken the golf cart from in front of the apartment complex office located at 1815 N. Boomer and driven it from that location.”
The vice president of the business “informed me that she wished to have Braden prosecuted for the larceny of the golf cart,” that was recovered and valued at $3,500, the officer wrote in his affidavit.
