(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 61-year-old Cushing woman accused of threatening to stab a boy has been ordered to appear in court on Nov. 1 on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Anita Jeannita Kadel, who was arrested by Cushing Police Officer Garvis Scott Thomas, has been jailed on $7,500 bail on the felony charge punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $5,000 fine on conviction, court records show.
The Cushing officer had been sent at 3:40 pm on Oct. 9 to Kadel’s residence in the 200 block of W. Oak Street on a report that she had a knife and attempted to stab, his affidavit alleged.
“Upon arrival, I observed a female standing on the front porch…Kadel explained she was tired of them messing with her. While speaking with Kadel, a juvenile male stepped onto the front porch and pointed towards Kadel and stated, “she tried to stab me,"” the Cushing officer alleged in his affidavit.
After the boy complied with an order to step back inside, “Kadel stated, ‘I did it. I grabbed the knife. I am just tired of them messing with me,"” the affidavit alleged.
“When asked how they were messing with her, Kadel advised they are constantly making sexual jokes towards her. When asked why she grabbed the knife, Kadel stated, ‘I was going to hurt them,"” the affidavit alleged.
Asked where the knife was, Kadel “explained she put it back into the kitchen,” the affidavit alleged.
The reporting party “explained she owned the house and was allowing Kadel to stay there…(She) further advised she witnessed Kadel grab the knife and go towards (the boy) while stating, ‘I’m going to kill you,"” the affidavit alleged.
The reporting party, “also informed me that Kadel was lying about the people making sexual remarks towards her. (She) further stated it was Kadel that was making sexual remarks towards the juveniles,” the Cushing officer alleged in his affidavit.
The boy told the officer that “when Kadel returned home from the hospital, they began to argue,” the affidavit alleged. The boy said “Kadel grabbed the knife and went towards him. (He) advised he went to another room and locked the door because he was in fear of his life,” the affidavit alleged.
The boy’s relationship to Kadel was not listed in the affidavit.
