(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 35-year-old Stillwater man, who remains free on $100,000 bail, has been ordered to appear in court on Jan. 4 when he can seek a preliminary hearing on a charge of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl by committing lewd acts and first-degree rape against her.
Hector Escobedo-Vazquez, who was arrested at his residence on Nov. 10 by members of the Payne County Sheriff’s Office, could be given as much as a life prison term if convicted of child sexual abuse.
Payne County Sheriff’s Investigator Rockford Brown observed an interview of the 14-year-old girl at the Saville Center in Stillwater on Nov. 10 during which she said she had been sexually assaulted by Escobedo-Vazquez when she went to his residence to use his pool last summer, an affidavit alleged.
She told the interviewer she had become increasingly wary of him “due to his recent behavior around her,” the investigator’s affidavit alleged.
She said “he had pulled her pants and underwear down when she was outside of the pool and she had run home, but did not tell anyone at the time,” the affidavit alleged.
She said she decided not to go back there, but her younger sibling wanted to go back, so “feeling concern over the younger sibling decided to return for the sibling’s safety,” the affidavit alleged.
She said “it was dark outside and Escobedo-Vazquez caught her by the side of the house, pushed her to the ground and covered her mouth with his hand,” the affidavit alleged.
She said “she attempted to scream, but Escobedo-Vazquez told her no one would hear her scream and there was no point in trying,” before pulling her shorts down and raping her, the affidavit alleged.
She said “she had bled following the incident and had pain upon urination,” the affidavit alleged.
“Prior to the assault, Escobedo-Vazquez had offered vapes and alcohol to (her) and her siblings, and told them he would hurt them if they ever told that he had provided it to them,” the affidavit alleged.
After the child was seen by the nurse-practitioner at the Saville Center, the sheriff’s investigator was informed that the child had two healed injuries consistent with sexual assault, the affidavit alleged.
The child’s mother obtained an emergency protective order on behalf of the girl and her two younger siblings against Escobedo-Vazquez on Nov. 16 after he was released from jail, court records show.
In her petition, the mother alleged, “The kids were swimming and numerous times Hector was there and inappropriately was touching her butt and breasts. One one occasion, she had gotten out of the pool to go with (two others) in the house. As they came out, Hector was trying to hug (the girl) and she was telling him to quit. He kept pushing his genitals onto her. She started getting louder and he laughed and went inside.”
The mother also alleged in her petition, “On one occasion, he pulled (the girl) off to the back of the house. He put his forearm over her mouth and pulled her pants down,” and raped her.
