(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 51-year-old Cushing man has been jailed on $50,000 bail on charges of sexually abusing two young female relatives, one of them at his rural Payne County residence east of Cushing when she was 8 and 9, and the other at his apartment on Southgate Drive in Cushing most often when she was 12, court records allege.
Jerry Lee Watkins was arrested on July 17 outside his Cushing apartment where a search warrant was served, according to an affidavit by Payne County Sheriff’s Investigator Rockford Brown.
Watkins was arraigned Tuesday by video from the Payne County Jail by Special District Judge Katherine Thomas, who ordered him to have no contact with his alleged victims and gave him an application for a court-appointed attorney to be reviewed at his next court appearance on July 28.
If convicted of three counts of child sexual abuse, Watkins could be given a maximum sentence of three life prison terms, according to the charge filed by Payne County Assistant District Attorney Debra Vincent.
When the younger girl was interviewed at the Saville Center in Stillwater on July 7, she disclosed that Watkins “had molested her and made her watch pornography while at his residence,” when he lived east of Cushing on N. Oak Grove, the affidavit alleged.
The girl said that Watkins made her and the other girl touch his genital area, the affidavit alleged. The girl “also disclosed Watkins would show her pornography of men and women having sex, using both his phone and the TV on the wall,” the affidavit alleged.
The girl said “she never told anyone because she was afraid of Watkins, but does not remember if he ever threatened her,” or the other girl, the affidavit alleged.
When the older girl was interviewed at the Saville Center in Stillwater on July 15, she disclosed that Watkins “had molested her on multiple occasions,” at his Cushing apartment, where he had lived since September of 2017 according to utility records, the affidavit alleged.
She said she was 12 when most of the assaults occurred, including Watkins’ using a sexual device on her on top and underneath her clothing that she said felt weird and hurt, the affidavit alleged.
“Watkins forced the child to perform oral sex on him and would get angry with her when she attempted to refuse,” the affidavit alleged.
Watkins showed her pornography on his cell phone and also used his laptop computer to cast or play it on the television, the affidavit alleged.
She said that “Watkins has several sexual devices that he keeps in a black bag, and typically keeps it in the closet when other people are at the residence,” the affidavit alleged.
“During the execution of the search warrant, officers located items (the girl) had spoken about during her interview,” in a black bag found in the master bedroom’s closet, the sheriff’s investigator alleged in his affidavit.
