On Thursday November 12 and Friday November 13, Cushing Police Officers along with members from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Payne County Sheriff’s Department executed 3 narcotic search warrants on Cushing residences, which resulted in 4 arrests and multiple narcotic related charges being filed with the Payne County District Attorney’s office.
817 W. Moses
On Thursday November 12, at approximately 2:48 pm, Cushing Officers served a search warrant at 817 W. Moses Street. Officers made contact with homeowner, James Butler, 51, B/M, who was subsequently placed in investigative detention. During the search of the residence, Sgt. Matthew Piatt conducted a search of the residence with his canine partner, who alerted on multiple items inside the residence.
Those items were later searched by Officer Aaron Sherman and MPO Jonathan Hall. During the search officers, found a set of digital scales, a baggy containing a white powdery rock substance, which tested presumptive positive for cocaine, green leafy substance, which tested presumptive positive for marijuana and a pill container containing misc. pills.
MPO Hall later took a measurement from Butler’s residence to Northwest Park, which was 879 feet northwest of the residence.
Butler, was later arrested and held on the following complaints: possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 2000 feet of a park, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to affix tax stamp, and knowingly maintaining a residence where drugs are kept or sold.
716 ½ S. Steele
On Friday November 13 at approximately 0617 hours, Cushing Police Officers along with members from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Payne County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at 716 ½ S. Steele Street. Upon entering the residence, officers placed homeowner, Bill R. Lemons, 61, W/M, in investigative detention.
The residence was later searched by Officer Aaron Sherman and MPO Jonathan Hall. During the search officers found a smoking pipe, green leafy substance, which tested presumptive positive for Marijuana, grinder, syringes, digital scale, baggy containing a white crystallized substance, which tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine, and video surveillance system, which was on and showed anyone approaching the residence, which included law enforcement.
A measurement from Lemons’ residence to the Memorial Park was taken, which was 401 feet directly east of the residence.
Lemons was arrested and held on the following complaints: possession of marijuana within 1000 feet of a park, possession of methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a park, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to affix tax stamp, knowingly maintain a residence where drugs are kept or sold, and use of video surveillance while committing a felony.
1318 E. Oak Street
On Friday November 13 at approximately 0821 hours, Cushing Police Officers along with members from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Payne County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at 1318 E. Oak Street. Upon entering the residence, officers placed homeowner, Danny Hopkins, Diana Hopkins, and Danielle Hopkins-Milligan in investigative detention.
During the search of the residence, Sgt. Matthew Piatt conducted a search of the residence with his canine partner, which was then followed by a hand search of the residence by MPO Hall and Ofc. Sherman.
During the search of the master bedroom, officers seized a crystallized substance, which tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine, a burnt leafy substance, and rolling papers. During the search of Milligan’s room, officers seized a smoking pipe containing a burnt leafy substance, which tested presumptive positive for marijuana.
