(Stillwater, Okla.) — An ex-convict who served two prison terms for assault with a dangerous weapon in Creek County has been jailed on $50,000 bail in Payne County on charges of trafficking methamphetamine and possessing drug paraphernalia on Friday.

Corey Dewayne McCormick, 34, who previously lived in Drumright, has also used the first and middle names of Kory Dee, Kory Duane and Kory Dwayne, according to his two-count Payne County charge filed Monday.

McCormick was arraigned Monday from the Payne County Jail and scheduled to appear in court with an attorney on Wednesday afternoon. His address is listed as Durant on his Payne County charge.

If convicted of trafficking 28.9 grams of methamphetamine in the case investigated by the Payne County Sheriff’s Office, McCormick could be given a life prison term and a $200,000 fine, court records show.

If convicted of possessing drug paraphernalia described as a syringe and plastic bags, McCormick could be incarcerated for an additional year.

According to court records, the defendant, under the name of Kory Dee McCormick, was living in Drumright in 2014 when he was convicted in Payne County of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute in 2013, for which he was given a six-month jail term followed by nine and one-half years of probation.

According to the state Department of Corrections, the defendant, under the name of Korey Dewayne McCormick, was convicted in the Drumright division of Creek County District Court of assault with a dangerous weapon in 2004; he was given a six-year prison term in 2005 of which he served about two and one-half years before being released six years ago.

McCormick had previously been convicted in 2002 in the Drumright division of Creek County District Court of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for which he was given a three-year prison term followed by two years of probation, DOC records show. In that case, he was imprisoned about seven months in 2006, DOC records show.
