Lex Andrew Phelps arrived with his twin brother, Liger Paul, on July 22, 2015, his mother’s birthday, nearly eight weeks earlier than expected. He left this life on September 16, 2015. Lex had more trouble than most with his early arrival being born with complications that despite intense 24 hour care, simply could not be overcome. He spent his entire life in the care of his mother, father, doctors and nurses in the OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. He passed from this life and ‘went over the rainbow’ on the afternoon of September 16th in the arms of his parents.
His twin brother Liger, is at home and doing well.
Some of us were given dozens of years, some given only hours and others, like Lex, are given a few weeks to live. But as we have learned, a lifetime encompasses not only our duration on Earth but the impact we’ve had while we are here. Lex’s struggle and his strong will to survive has affected family and friends in ways beyond measure. Ways which will be felt and remembered for the rest of their lives.
In addition to his parents, Chelsea Duncan and Andrew Phelps, Lex leaves behind his brother’s Lennon, Lars and Liger; maternal family – grandma, D’Jeanne Duncan and Rick Reiley; great grandma, Phyllis Stevens; Uncle Phil Newberry, Travis Duncan and Jed & Marissa Duncan; paternal family – grandparents, David Phelps and Mike & Debbie Franklin; great-grandparents, Lloyd & Billie Eversole, Angie & Jody Keeley, Jessica Phelps, Joshua Phelps and Kyle Franklin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandpa, Bill Duncan.
Memorial services are pending.
