(Stillwater, Okla.) – A Payne County judge has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a former Cushing man who failed to appear in court Friday on charges of driving without a license and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident at State Highway 33 and Euchee Valley Road on Oct. 12, 2014.

One victim in the accident received back and neck injuries, while another victim had an arm injury, according to the two-count charge.

Cole Dean Spann, 24, listed an address in Alexander, Ark., when he was released on a personal recognizance bond March 2 after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing, court records show.

Spann was driving a white 2012 Chevrolet Cruze when it struck a tan 2004 Dodge Intrepid, but he fled the scene and was later apprehended at another location, the two-count charge alleged.

Four days later, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Clancy Williams was following up on the hit and run crash when he interviewed Spann and arrested him, and affidavit alleged.

“Spann admitted to being the driver of the white 2012 Chevy Cruze,” involved in the accident, the trooper alleged in his affidavit.

If convicted of both counts, Spann could be incarcerated for two years plus 30 days and fined $1,300, court records show.
