(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 22-year-old Cushing man has been charged with raping his 13-year-old girlfriend at his home in the 7900 block of N. Norfolk Road.
An arrest warrant was issued Monday for Chet Wayne Baker, who was not in the Payne County Jail this morning, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
If convicted of having sexual intercourse with the underage girl in January 2014, Baker could be imprisoned for five years to life, court records show.
On June 9, two Payne County sheriff’s deputies assisted the state Department of Human Services with a visit at Baker’s residence, after a report that the now 14-year-old girl moved from her mother’s residence to that location with Baker, an affidavit filed Monday alleged.
According to an investigation, the girl and Baker “have a romantic relationship with sexual intercourse for the past two years and had been living with the defendant for the past two months,” the affidavit alleged.
Payne County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Henninger said that Baker came outside as the girl gathered her belongings to be taken to the Payne County Youth Shelter, the affidavit alleged.
Baker initially told a DHS worker that they stayed in the same room and that he slept on the floor, the affidavit alleged.
“Deputy Henninger entered the residence to check on the DHS worker and noticed one small bed in the room, and on asking the juvenile female if they, juvenile and defendant, slept in the bed was told they did,” the affidavit alleged.
Asked again about the relationship, Baker said that he lied because he did not want to get the girl in trouble, the affidavit alleged.
Baker then admitted that they did have sex and had a relationship for over a year, the affidavit alleged.
On June 11, the girl was taken from the Youth Shelter to the Saville Center in Stillwater where a forensic interview was conducted, the affidavit said.
The girl said that she had met Baker about two years ago and that after Baker asked her mother if he could date her, the mother gave him permission to do so, the affidavit alleged.
The girl said that the first time they had sexual intercourse at Baker’s home on Norfolk Road, she was 13, the affidavit alleged. The girl said that she told her mother about the relationship, and her mother started the girl on birth control, the affidavit alleged.
After the interview at the Saville Center, the girl was taken back by Payne County Sheriff’s Investigator Larry Kitchel to the Youth Shelter, the affidavit said.
